Will of John M VAN BUREN, Schodack

In the name of God amen I, John M Van Buren of the Town of Schodack in the County of Rensselaer being very sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & memory Thanks be given unto god therefore calling unto mind The mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed For all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last Will & testament that is to say

principally & first of all I give & recommend my Soul unto the hands of almighty God that give it & my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors & as touching said worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to Bless me in this life I give, devise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form

First I order & direct that all my just debts & funeral charges shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named --

Secondly I order that my beloved Wife LANTIE shall have the care of my Farm as long as she remains my Widow for her support & maintenance of my children & MOTHER

Thirdly I give & bequeath unto my two daughters CATALINA & IASE [?LUCRETIA?] & to their Heirs & Assigns forever each One hundred acres of land from the East part of my Land. All the remainder of my Real Estate except thirty five acres & one half ajoining [sic] the Calkovens Cruple [sic] Bush I give & bequeath to my son MOAS VAN BUREN & to his Heirs & Assigns forever,

Fourthly I give & bequeath unto my said Son Moas all my farming utensells & my silver tankard & silver cup all the Remainder of my personall property I give & bequeath unto my three children Moas, Catalina & Iase share & share alike, my Will further is that in case one of my Daughters should die without issue that then her share of Real & personall property shall descend to the other Daughter --

Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute & appoint my loving friends JOHN J MULLER, JACOB BARHEYET & MARTIN BEEKMAN Executors __________ to this my last Will & testament Giving to them full power & authority to sell & dispose the thirty five acres & one half above excepted & to execute a good & sufficient Deed to the purchaser & the money arising therefrom to be laid out toward the payment of my debts & further I give unto my said Executors full & ample power as soon as RICHARD SMITH pays the Remainder of the money which he was to give me for the land which he bought from me to give him a good & sufficient Deed & the money paid by him to be laid out by them toward the payment of my just debts

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this Eighteenth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred & ninety nine.
