Last Will and Testament

In the name of God amen I Cornelius H. Van Buren of Greenbush in the County of Renslear and State of New York, being weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding thanks be to God for the same, do make ordain and constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz

First I give and bequiethe my soul to God who gave it hoping and craving his most gratious pardon of all my sins through my most blsed redeamer Jeses Christ - and my body to the earth to be desently buried -

I give and bequeithe to my eldest son Hendrick for his bethrite all the money and other property that I have heretofore advanced to him as his full shear of my estate which must preclude him from any further claim or demands hereafter -

I give and bequith to my loving wife Giny one cow and six sheep the choise out of my stock and all my houshold furniture to her own proper use and behafe forever - I give and devise and bequiethe to her also one equiel third part of my farm whereon I now live with the equiel third of all the builds and appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during her natural life

I give devise and bequeithe unto my two sons Peter and Mathew all my farm whereon I now live with the buildings and appurtenances thereunto belonging to them their heirs and assigns forever excepting my wife Ginys part during her life and then the whole to be equiely devided between them - I give and bequiethe also to my two sons Peter and Mathew all and singular my my [sic] live stock and farming utentials that shall be then on my farm to be equiely devided between them or their heirs -

I give and bequieth to my son Tobias my saddle and bridle when he comes to the age of twenty one years -

I give and bequiethe to my son Cornelius my watch when he comes to the age of twenty one years - both saddle and watch to remain in the custody of my wife till that time -

My will is and I do hereby order that my two sons Peter and Mathew shall jointly cause my two sons Tobias and Cornelius to [sic] edicated so that they can keep their own account put out to trades, and when the said Cornelius shall come to the age of twenty one years to pay him and Tobias each fifty pounds or to therr heirs.

I do further order that my sons Peter and Mathew shall jontly pay to my Daughters Anatia, Caty and Lanah or theirs [sic] each fifty pounds seven years after my decease.

I do further order that my sons Peter and Mathew pay to my Daughter Gatery fifty pounds in ten years after my decease, viz five pounds yearly till the whole is paid in such articals or produce as she shall stand most in need of or to her heirs - also they shall give her the preveladge to live in the house where she now lives and occupy one half acre of land for a garden for the term of ten years after my decease but not sell or let that preveladge to any other person -

I further order that my sons Peter and Mathew shall give my son Garet the preveladge to occupy the house and barn that he now occupies with twenty five acres of land to begin at the south side of the barn yard and extend north to hickses line, and then extend from the road east, both ends of equiel wedth till it contains twenty five acres with the preveladge to get his fire wood, and fence wood on their farm, but not to waste destroy or sell any; the above prevlage must be and remain for his natural life but the said Garit shall pay his equiel prepotion of the rent and taxes of the farm - further if the said Garet shall cheuse at any time to give up that prevelage to Peter and Mathew they shall pay him sixty pounds [within one year after such sale {this phrase struck through}] viz ten pounds when he delivers the pessesion and ten pounds annually till the sixty pounds is paid and further if Peter and Mathew shall at any time sell the farm Garet shall give up the peosesion and Peter and Mathew shall pay him sixty pounds within one year after such sale - and further if Garet shall die in peosesion of said land before his wife Sufia then Peter and Mathew may take peosesion of the said twenty five acres of land and house by paying his widow Sufia ten pounds.

I further order that my two sons Peter and Mathew shall pay all my just debts and funaral charges - and lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint my freinds Jonthan Witbeek and William Fitch Executors of this my last will and testament in trust to see the same performed according to my true intent and meaning -

In witness whereof I the said Cornelius H. Van Buren have hereunto set my hand and seal the ninth day of May in the year of our [sic] one thousand eight hundred and ten -

The word /then/ in the first page and /bridle/ in the second, and east/and/pounds/in the third inter-lined /and/or his heirs/ 2orsed before signing and sealing also day and date above written in-terlined

Be it remembered that on the twenty fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven personally appeared before me Alanson Douglas Esquire Surrogate of the said County of Rensselaer, Walter Carpenter one of the subscribing Witnesses to the will of Cornelius H. Van Buren late of the Town of Greenbush in the said county deceased, who being duly sworn declared that he did see the said Cornelius H. Van Buren seal and execute the annexed written instrument purported to be the last will and testament of the said Cornelius H. Van Buren bearing date the ninth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament - that at the time thereof he the said Cornelius H. Van Buren was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and beleif of him the said Walter Carpenter, and that the said Walter Carpenter together with Jonathan Witbeck & Tobias Salsbury Junior the other witnesses to the said will severally subscribed their hands and names to the said will as witnesses thereto in the presence of the Testator and of each other --
