The last Will and Testament of John D. Barringer late of the town of Poestenkill in the County of Rensselaer deceased with the proofs thereof as a will of real and personal estate. Recorded Apr. 5th 1877. Will delivered to Executor May 26th 1877.

In the name of God Amen I John D. Barringer of the town of Poestenkill County of Rensselaer and State of New York farmer being now in comfortable health in body and of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last Will and Testament and devise and dispose of my worldly estate in the manner and form as follows that is to say that first of all my just debts and funeral expenses and the charges of settling my estate he paid out of my personal estate by my executors who I shall hereafter name__

Item I, I give and devise unto my beloved wife Rachel as much room in my dwelling house where I now live as she may choose for her use & as many beds, bedsteads, bedding, pillows and household furniture as she may select for her use, clothing, boarding, washing, medicine & attendance & nursing. All necessary fire wood ready & fit for use, help in the house that she may need during her natural life and also all her funeral expenses & suitable tombstones to be placed at her and my graves. All of which I enjoin on my sons David & Jeremiah to pay together with the legacies I shall here after name & direct to be paid by said sons each one half & toward the support of my said wife and said gifts and legacies shall be and remain a lien on my homestead farm until all is paid done and performed & satisfied__

Item 2, 1 give and devise unto my son David the westerly half of my homestead farm & one half of my wood lot on the mountain, one half of all my stock, farming utensils and produce on my farm or in the Barn or gathered in, one half of money & personal property Excepting that given to my wife & that I may give to my daughter Magdalen & in consideration of the aforesaid gifts I enjoin on him to pay, do and perform one half of all the provisions made for my wife & the legacies I hereafter name to my daughters & others of my grandchildren & furnish my wife with one half of the firewood ready for use__

Item 3, I give and devise unto my son Jeremiah the easterly half of my homestead farm & one half of my wood lot on the mountain, one half of my stock, farming utensils & produce on my farm or in the Barn or gathered in, one half of my personal estate, money etc Excepting that given to my wife & that I shall give unto my daughter Magdalen & in consideration of the aforesaid gifts I enjoin on said son to do, pay & perform one half of the provisions, legacies etc as son David is bound & directed today and pay, each to do and pay an equal proportion of all in provisions & legacies__

Item 4, I give and devise unto my daughter Magdalen six hundred and fifty dollars to be paid five years after my decease, one good cow, all the household goods & furniture that is left at my wife's decease and a home at my homestead as long as she remains single & she may live with either of my sons David or Jeremiah as she may choose & be provided for by my said sons__

Item 5, I give and devise to my daughter Catherine M now wife of John D Defreest one hundred dollars to be paid in six years after my decease__

Item 6, 1 give and devise unto my grandson Charles Edward three hundred collars to be paid in five years after he becomes twenty one years of age and I give and devise unto my granddaughters Mary Catherine & Martha Jane each one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid in five years after they shall respectively become twenty one tears of age. And it is my will that if any of my said heirs before named shall die without lawful issue heir or heirs or before their respective legacies shall become due according to the aforesaid provisions then the legacy or legacies made to him her or them shall revert back to my estate and be equally divided between my surviving heirs or their heirs Excepting Catherine M Defreest who is not included in the last provision but it is further my will that my executors shall carry out all of the aforesaid provisions according to the time intent & meaning of this instrument __

And I do lastly constitute and appoint my trusty sons David & Jeremiah Barringer my Executors in and to this my last Will and Testament revoking & disannulling all former wills by me made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament__

Signed sealed published and declared by me the above named John D Barringer to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of June one thousand eight hundred and sixty 1860
