Last Will and Testament George Sharp Town of Greenbush |
The last will & Testament, map annexed & Codicil annexed of George Sharp deceased, with the Probate thereof Recorded Nov 18th 1815.
In the name of God Amen I George Sharp of Greenbush in the County of Rensselaer and State of New York Considering the uncertainty of this Mortal life being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following to wit__
First I will, that all my Just Debts and Funeral expenses be satisfied and paid out of my Personal Estate by my Executors herein after mentioned in some convenient time after my decease
Item I give and bequeath to my sons George, Jacob, Jeremiah, and Coonradt all my wearing apparel to be by them equally divided at the expiration of six weeks after my decease__
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Maria wife of Abraham D Vanderheyden my large Dutch Bible _
Item I give and bequeath to my son Jeremiah one hundred dollars of my personal property to be paid to him by my Executors herein after named six months after my decease
Item I give and bequeath to my five daughters namely Maria, the wife of Abraham D Vanderheyden, Catherine, the wife of John Bloemendale, Barbara, the wife of Peter Bloemendale, Christina, the wife of Thomas Cole, and Lana unmarried, All my House and Lots of ground which I own in the Village of Troy to be by them equally divided share and share alike and to their heirs and assigns forever and I also give and bequeath to my said five daughters above named all my household furniture to be by them equally divided __
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Lana single woman my dwelling house wherein I now live also my barn gardens and old Hossted and one third part of all the Fruit also two good milk cows and four sheep, the cows and the sheep to be furnished with pasture in summer and hay in winter the Hay to be brought into barn and a sufficiency of firewood to be brought on the Old wood place for her use, also six bushels of good clean wheat eight bushels of rye six bushels Buckwheat and Ten bushels corn, also one peck flaxseed to be sewed and pulled for her use annually All this I bequeath to her the said Lana for and during her natural life or her marrying and no longer, the pasture hay grain & sewing of flaxseed as above bequeath to he provided and brought to her annually yearly and every by my sons George Sharp Jur., Jacob Sharp and my grandson Barnhart Uline Sharp for and during her natural life or untill she shall marry in equall proportions according to the numbers of acres I shall herein after devise to the said George, Jacob and Barnhart Uline Sharp__
Item I give devise and bequeath to my son George Sharp Jun. and to his heirs and assigns all that certain farm piece or parcels of land whereon he now lives being part of my farm which I hold by lease from Stephen Van Rensselaer and which is designated on a map or chart made by Evert Van Alen bearing aven date herewith and which I have caused to he hereunto affixed as the same has been surveyed and marked by my directions reference being thereunto had will more fully appear which said piece or parcel of land contains one hundred and Thirty seven acres as also one other piece lying in the North West corner of the Said farm Containing Twelve acres, To have and to Hold the said two pieces to my son George Sharp Jur. and to his heirs and assigns forever, subject to an annual rent to be paid to Stephen Van Rensselaer, the rent to be in proportion to the number of acres contained in the whole and subject also to the number of acres contained in the whole and subject also to the payment and performance of his proportion above reserved for my daughter, Lana for, and during her natural life or so long as she remains unmarried. I also bequeath to my said son George the use of one third part of the fruit in my orchard for and during the life or marrying of my said daughter Lana and no longer__
Item I give and bequeath to my son Jacob Sharp All that certain piece or parcel of land being part of said farm and which is also represented on the said map by Dotted lines and Contains Seventy four acres as the same has been surveyed and marked and whereon the said Jacob now lives with appurtenances thereunto belonging. To Have and to Hold the same to my said son Jacob and to his heirs and assigns forever Subject to an annual rent in proportion to the number of acres to be paid to Stephen Van Rensselaer yearly and every year and subject also to the payment and performance of his proportion above reserve for my daughter Lana for and during her natural life or so long as she remains unmarried__
Item I give and bequeath to my grandson Barnhart Uline Sharp only child of my dec'd son Nicholas all that dwelling house and Barn whereon he in his life time lived together with all that part of my said farm marked on the said Barnhart Uline Sharp and designated by dotted lines Containing one hundred and Forty three acres together with another lot containing eight acres lying in the South East part of my said farm as the same is marked on the said map To Have and to Hold the said two parcels of land as above described - to my said Grandson Barnhart Uline Sharp and to his heirs and assigns forever Subject also to an annual rent in proportion to the number of acres to be paid to Stephen Van Rensselaer yearly and every year and subject also to the payment and performance of his proportion herein before reserved for my daughter Lana for and during her natural life or so long as she remains unmarried and immediately after her decease or marrying a husband which shall first happen that then said dwelling House and Barn and Garden so bequeathed to her share then and not till then belong to the said Barnhart Uline Sharp as the same is included in the aforesaid One hundred and Forty three acres and to his heirs and assigns forever and I will that the said Barnhart Uline Sharp shall have one third of the fruit in my Orchard during the lifetime or marrying of Lana__
But if it shall so happen that the said Barnhart Uline Sharp should die and not having a Legal heir of his own body or Should die before he arrives to the age of Twenty one years that then and in such case which shall first happen I will that all the Real Estate above devised shall belong in equal proportions to my four sons namely George, Jacob, Jeremiah and Coonradt to be by them Equally divided share and share alike and to their heirs and assigns forever and that for and in consideration of which they shall then and in that case pay the sum of Five hundred and Fifty dollars and which said farm shall then be equally divided between my Five daughters namely Catherine, Maria, Barbary, Christina & Lana__
And Lastly as to all the rest residue and remainder of all my property real and Personal not herein before particularly willed and disposed of I give devise and bequeathed to all my children to wit George, Jacob, Jeremiah, Coonradt, Catherine, Maria, Barbary, Christina and Lana and to my Grandson Barnhart Uline Sharp to he then Equally divided share and share alike and to their heirs__
And I do Hereby nominate constitute and appoint George Sharp Jnr. Peter Bloemendal and Thomas Cole Executors to this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirteen__
Signed sealed published and declared by the above named George Sharp to be his last will & Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our sd names as witnesses in the presence of the Testator and presence of each other.

In the name of God Amen I George Sharp of Greenbush in the County of Rensselaer and State of New York, being weak in body though nearly deprived of my eye sight but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this Codicil to my last will and Testament in manner following __
Item I will that for and in consideration of the devise made in my last will and Testament to my son Jacob, that he pays in addition to what is already adjoined on in the said will to my son Jeremiah in one year after my decease the sum of one hundred and Fifty dollars or to his heirs or assigns__
Item For and in consideration of the devise, made in my said will to my Grandson Barent Uline Sharp I will that he pays in one year qfter he arrives to the age of Twenty one years to my son Jeremiah his heirs or assigns the sum of Two hundred Dollars but in case the said Barent Uline Sharp should dye before he arrives to the age of Twenty one years that the sum of Two hundred shall be paid to my son Jeremiah by my sons George, Jacob, and Coenradt in case the said Barnet Uline Sharp should die __
Item I further give and bequeath to my son George the Old Barn near my Dwelling house which he is to remove and take off the premises within one year after my decease and lastly I do hereby nominate Constitute and appoint Coentadt Sharp an Executor to my last will and Testament and as well as to this Codicil in addition to those already appointed in my said last will and Testament and it is my desire that this my present Codicil be annexed to and made part of my last will and Testament to all intents and purposes__
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Fourthteenth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and fifteen.
