A copy of the last will & testament of Nicholas Sharp deceased - recorded November 11th 1802
In the name of God Amen I Nicholas Sharp of the town of Greenbush County of Rensselaer and State of New York Being verey weak in health but in perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same calling unto mind the mortality of my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make & ordain this my last will & testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give & Recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that give it to me & my Body & Recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
First I give & bequeath to my Sons George Sharp & John Sharp all my land or Farm that I now occupy and possess with all the buildings thereon standing & being and to Heirs & Assigns forever with all my farming utensils to be equally divided between them.
Also I give to my son George my two gray horses & to my son John my young foal mare both of a year old & I also give unto my son John my Gon.
Also I give my Dauter Polly an outright? equel with my then dauters. then the remainder of my moveable effects to be equally to? divided between my seven children that is to say Jacob, Bartholomew, George, John, Barbara, Peggey & Polly
Also I give unto my four sons all my wearing apperrels equelly to be divided between them.
Also I give unto my three dauters all the warring apperrel of my wife now deceased to he equally divided between them.
Also I give unto my two sons Jacob & Bartholomew each thirty five pounds and to my three dauters Barbara, Paggey, & Polly each ten pounds to he paid to them or to their heirs by my sons George Sharp and John Sharp within six years without inevfraus? or other delay after my death.
Also I constitute make & ordain my loving son Bartholomew & my brother Martinus Sharp the sole executors of this my last will & testament.
I do hereby utterly disallow revoke & disannul all several? other former testaments Wills Legacies Bequeaths & Executors by me in any whise before mentioned willed & bequeathed ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & two.
Signed Sealed Published Pronounced and declared by the said Nicholas Sharp as his last Will and Testament in presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names.
