A copy of the last will and Testament of Ezra HICKOK deceased with proof thereof -
In the name of Lord Amen. I Ezra HICKOK of Lansingburgh in the County of Rensselear considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, it is my request that the whole of my estate both real and personal at my decease be considered as divided into eleven equal shares, and of those eleven shares that two be given to each of my four sons, one share to my daughter Abigail, one other share to the heirs of my Daughter Electa, and that the remaining share be held by my four Sons as Trustees, to the use of my Daughter Matilda during her life and that at her death the said Share held in trust as aforesaid be secured to her children - divided nevertheless that if my said sons or a majority of them should think proper, they are hereby authorized to extend the whole or a part of the last aforesaid share on the proper maintenance of my said Daughter Matilda or on the education of her children -
I estimate the farm in the possession of my Son Durlin at one thousand pounds which I consider as given him by way of advancement and I will that the note given on consideration for the said farm be cancelled - the said note amounting to one thousand five hundred Dollars -

NOTE FROM THE SUBMITTER: I am posting a transcribed copy of the will of my 5GGrandfather, Revolutionary War Captain Ezra HICKOK Jr., born 15 May 1737 at Wilton [Fairfield County, CT], died 21 April 1807, married at Wilton, Connecticut, 29 December 1756, to Elizabeth WHELPLEY, born at Wilton 6 July 1732, died 24 August 1801 at Lansingburgh, Rensselaer County, NY, age 68 years, daughter of David WHELPLEY and Elizabeth GREGORY of Norwalk, [Fairfield County] Conn. The four sons referred to are James HICKOK, Durlin HICKOK, Samuel HICKOK and Horatio HICKOK.
