The Last Will and Testament of Jack Swift deceased with the probate thereof. Recorded February 11, 1817.
In the name of God Amen, I JACK SWIFT, Blackman of the town of Schodack, County of Rensselaer, State of New York, being sound in body, mind, memory and understanding; and considering the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of Life: do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. My soul I resign to God who gave it hoping for pardon and remission of my sins through the meritorious atonements of Jesus Christ my redeemer; my body to be decently buried.
First after my just debts and funeral charges are paid, I do give and bequeath the use and profit of all my estate both real and personal to my beloved wife CLOEY for her support and comfort during her natural life, provided she should outlive me
[Second] And at her decease, I do give and bequeath two thirds of my estate both real and personal to my beloved son in law LAN(?) JACOB.
Thirdly, I do give and bequeath the remaining third both real and personal to my beloved daughter in law PHEBE trusting that they will make the best use of it to their own good they both being the children of my present wife CLOEY.
Signed, sealed and delivered by the said Jack Swift, as his last will and Testament in the presents [sic] of us who have subscribed our names as witnesses to the Execution thereof, at Hillsdale this thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and Eleven. The name "Phebe" underlined before signed in the ninth line from the bottom.

Be it remembered that on the Eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred seventeen personally appeared before me one William McManus, Esquire, Surrogate of the said County of Rensselaer, Nathaniel Swift and Judah Swift two of the subscribing witnesses to the will of Jack Swift late of the Town of Schodack in the said County, deceased who being duly sworn declared that they did see the said Jack Swift seal and execute the written instrument (of which the annexed is a copy) purporting to be the last Will and Testament of the said Jack Swift, bearing the date of the thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight Hundred and Eleven and heard him publish and declare the same as his last will and Testament; that at the time thereof the said Jack Swift was of sound disposing mind and memory, to the best of the knowledge and belief of the said Nathaniel Swift and Judah Swift and that the said Nathaniel Swift and Judah Swift together with Henry White the other witness to the said will severally subscribed their hands and names to the said will as witness thereto in the presence of the Testator and each other.
