GARDNER, CHASE. I am searching for any possible descendants of Winslow GARDNER and wife Rebecca CHASE. They are shown living in Hoosick on the 1820 Federal census and in Pittstown on the 1855 State census. They are both buried in the small "Chase Cemetery", located along the bank of the Tomhannock Reservoir. Winslow died in 1858 and REBECCA died in 1865. I believe one of their sons was Rodney GARDNER who married Caroline CHASE and also lived in
Pittstown and are both buried in the Nortonville Cemetery, in Pittstown. Another son, Samuel Perry GARDNER, was my great, great grandfather, who settled in Ohio. GREEN, SHERWOOD. Henry GREEN was born about 1757 in Rhode Island. Sarah SHERWOOD married Henry GREEN on 6 Oct. 1781 in Williamstown, MA. She had been born about 1764, probably in Wilton, CT. Her parents were Samuel and Martha (Ketchum) Sherwood. My understanding is that they had 13(?) children and that Willianstown, MA is along the Berlin, RENS NY border. If the state line, when its location was finally decided on, had been placed east of Henry Green's home instead of west of it, the site of his farm would now be either in southeastern Berlin, NY or in northeastern Stephentown. This could also be the family I'm looking for if
either of their youngest daughters or their elder son's children were named Lucinda A. Green (b: Jan 16, 1808) in Stephentown, NY. Judy Grote 0598 [e-mail address given in May 1998 is no longer valid in March 2003]

GROFF, John. Seeking information about John GROFF b. abt 1762 d. abt 1846. In Book of Marriages in NY before 1800 is a John GROFF listed as being married to Mary COOPER in Rensselaer Co. Also listed in 1800 Census in Rensselaer Co. is a Matthew GROFF. In Willard Cemetery in Hope, Hamilton Co., is a John GROFF 1762-1846, a John P. GROFF, and a Matthew GROFF, son of John P. and Olive. 1820 Census records indicate John GROFF, John P. GROFF and Overocker GROFF. 1825 Census of Hope also lists a Jerre GROFF.
