Jay H. Northrup. 19 years old. Enrolled 10/30/1861 at Hartford to serve three years. Mustered in as a private, Co. F [93rd NY Infantry] 11/30/1861. Transferred to Co. I 3/1/1862. Promoted first sergt. [no date was noted]. Mustered in as 2nd lieut. 2/22/1863; as 1st lieut. 6/24/1864; as captain 11/24/1864; as major 3/22/1865. Mustered out with regiment 6/29/1865 near Washington, DC. Commissioned 2nd Lieut. 3/4/1863 with rank from 2/21/1863, vice R.S. Robertson. Promoted 1st Lieut. 6/27/1864 with rank from 6/24/1864, vice N.P.Eldridge, killed in action. Promoted to captain 12/7/1864, with rank from 11/23/1864, vice W. H. Kincaid. Discharged. Promoted to Major, 3/14/1865, with rank from 2/1/1865, vice H.P. Smith, not mustered. Promoted to Lieut.-Col., not mustered 5/31/1865, with rank from 3/11865, vice H. Gifford.
