John R. Strang. 24 years old. Enlisted on 3/6/1862 at Geneseo, NY as a 2nd lieutenant. On 3/17/1862 he was commissioned into "G" Co. NY 104th Infantry. He was mustered out on 7/17/1865 at Washington, DC. He was listed as POW 8/19/1864 at Weldon Railroad, VA. Paroled 12/15/1864 [place not noted] (estimated day). Promotions: 1st Lieut. 9/12/1862; Major 10/21/1862; Lieut. Colonel 11/7/1862; Colonel 3/3/1865 (not mustered). Intra Regimental Company Transfers: 11/24/1862 from company G to Field & Staff.
