Edward Nelson Barnes. 25 years old. Enlisted 8/5/1862 at Troy, NY to serve three years. Mustered in as sergeant, Co. "I", 8/27/1862. Surrendered 9/15/1862 and paroled 9/16/1862 at Harpers Ferry, VA. Promoted 1st Sergeant 4/12/1863. Wounded in action 7/3/1863 at Gettysburg, PA. Mustered in as 2nd lieutenant 3/9/1861. Wounded and captured in action 6/22/1861 near Petersburg, VA. Died of his wounds 6/27/1864 while a prisoner of war. Commissioned 2nd lieutenant 2/27/1861 with rank from 12/23/1863, vice W. P. Hagadorn appointed 2nd lieutenant in Veteran Reserve Corps.
