Alexander S. Springsteen. 20 years old. Enlisted on 8/2/1862 at Schodack, NY as a sergeant. On 8/27/1862 he mustered into "G" Co. NY 125th Infantry. He was discharged for promotion on 10/29/1863. On 10/29/1863 he was commissioned into 2nd CT Infantry [date and method of discharge not noted]. He was listed as POW 9/15/1862 at Harper's Ferry, VA. Paroled 9/16/1862 at Harper's Ferry, VA. Promotions: 1st Sergt. 3/1/1863; Capt. 10/29/1863 (as of 2nd CT). Source: New York: Report of the Adjutant-General.
