- Zayachek, Mary E. - MECHANICVILLE - Mrs. Mary E. ZAYACHEK, 96, of Arnold Ave., died Tuesday morning, March 3, 2009 at Albany Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born [19 January 1913] in the town of Stillwater [Saratoga County, NY], daughter of the late Elijah SENECAL and Claudia OVEROCKER SENECAL, Mary and family lived in Mechanicville [Saratoga County, NY] most of their lives. A homemaker who had worked as a presser with the former Marshall Ray Co. of Troy for many years, she enjoyed needlepoint and gardening but mostly taking care of her local grandchildren, their families and also her many pets. She was a member of the Assumption-St. Paul Church and the Mechanicville Senior Citizens. Mary had an infectious smile, an upbeat attitude about life, and a love for all her extended family. She was called "Aunt Mary" by many, many families in the Mechanicville area. Her husband, Stephen ZAYACHEK, her daughter, Rose THRANE, and her son, Stephen ZAYACHEK, all predeceased her. Survivors include two daughters, Mary CAULFIELD of Averill Park [town of Sand Lake, Rensselaer County, NY] and Shirley ZAYACHEK of Troy; 12 grandchildren, Christine THRANE, James THRANE (Anna), Mary Ann THRANE, Rosemarie THRANE, Thomas CAULFIELD (Kathy), William CAULFIELD, Michael CAULFIELD (Leslie), Mary Ann RALSTON (David), Stephen ZAYACHEK (Joyce), David ZAYACHEK, Susan CROWTHER (Paul), and Wendy DEMARCO (Joe), along with 22 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was also predeceased by her sisters, Emma STOCKWELL, Mabel LEMMERMAN, Irene DONEGAN and Florence MOREY; by a brother, James SENECAL; and by a dear friend and niece, Helen HORN. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday at Assumption-St. Paul North Main Street Church. Spring burial in Stillwater Union Cemetery [Saratoga County, NY]. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Friday 4-8 p. m. - BINGHAMTON, [Broome County] NY - On February 9, 2008, Norma Irene ZYCK, 89, left this earth
to journey through the Gates of Heaven. She was born Norma Irene BRUST, November 10, 1918, fourth of 11 children born to the late Alta BORNT and Waldo BRUST in Pittstown, [Rensselaer County] NY. She was married to George M. ZYCK ("Matt") for 39 wonderful years until his passing in November 1982. She is survived by two daughters, Judith Carol DENSON and her husband "Denny" of Virginia Beach, VA, and Joanne Marie DELANOY and her husband Keith of Binghamton; three grandsons, Donald DENSON, Jr. and his wife Carrie of Virginia Beach, Kevin DENSON of Navarre, FL, and Jason DELANOY and his girlfriend Gretchen of
Binghamton. Norma, fondly known as "G. G.", is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Whitney Taylor, Colleen Elizabeth, Donald Lee III, Samantha Mae, and Keagan James, and soon to be a sixth, Breanna Leigh; her sisters, Iva BONESTEEL of Troy, Elva GOLINSKI of Hoosick Falls, and Beryl KROUGH of Troy; her brothers, David BRUST of Cabool, MO, and Kenneth BRUST of Troy;
and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Rose DICKINSON, Edna CUSHMAN, and Marjorie WAIT, and by her brothers Elton BRUST and Ronald BRUST. Although they came from different backgrounds, a country farm girl and a city slicker, Norma and Matt married in 1943 and were devoted to each other. Norma's favorite pastime was spending time with her family,
especially her grandsons and her great-grandchildren. She lived a full, happy and long life and was a loving sister, mother and wife. She was a lifetime member of the Polish Community Center and Auxiliary of Albany; a member of the Polish-American Citizens' Club, the Colonie Elks Auxiliary #2192, and the St. Francis de Sales Senior Citizen Center; a former member of the Church of St. Casimir's; an avid bingo player; and a worker at the Polish Community Center. She was a longtime member, along with Matt and many of her friends, of the West End Rug Mixed Bowling League. Funeral services will be held in the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, 8 Dudley Heights, (Northern Blvd.) Albany, Thursday morning at 9:45 and 10:30 o'clock at the Church of
the Blessed Sacrament, 609 Central Avenue, Albany. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may also call at the funeral home Wednesday, 4 to 7 p. m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, reuniting Norma and Matt again for eternity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Norma's memory to the American
Diabetes Association, 356 N. Midler Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13206; to the Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad, 261 Court Street, Binghamton, NY 13901; or to the Prospect Terrace Fire Department, 382 Prospect Street, Binghamton, NY 13905.
