TALLENT, Eleanor FILM. - NORTH GREENBUSH - Eleanor Film Tallent, 86, of Bloomingrove Drive, died Sunday [Sept. 10, 1995] in North Greenbush. She was born and educated in Troy and had lived on Bloomingrove Drive for 55 years. She was a clerk for many years with the State Education Department, retiring in 1965. She then worked at the bookstore at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy for 13 years, retiring in 1978. She volunteered at the gift shop at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy and at Van Rensselaer Manor for several years following her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, Wynantskill. She was the widow of James TALLENT. Survivors include seven nephews and five nieces. Services will be held at 9 a. m. Thursday at the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, and at 9:30 a. m. at St. Jude's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours are 6-9 p. m. TELLER, Jessie J. WINDSOR. - TELLER - Mrs. John TELLER, a lifelong resident of Troy, and treasurer of the Bolton Post Women's Relief Corps of the GAR [Grand Army of the Republic], died this morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. She resided at 270 4th Ave., Lansingburgh. The former Jessie J. WINDSOR, she was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in Lansingburgh. She is survived by her husband, John H. TELLER; one daughter, Mrs. William J. KLEIN of Latham [Albany County, NY]; one son, John H. KAKULE of Schenectady [Schenectady County, NY]; and one sister, Mrs. Nina RICHARDSON of Troy. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the residence, with Rev. Elmer N. HALEY, pastor of St. Mark's Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. TELLER, John H. - JOHN TELLER, WORLD WAR I VETERAN, DIES - John H. TELLER, 66, a veteran of World War I and a native of Watervliet [Albany County, NY] who lived most of his life in Troy, died yesterday after a long illness. He was employed for many years as a machinist at Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in May of 1958. He was a member of the 20-Year Club at the arsenal. Mr. Teller was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church and of Noble-Callahan post, American Legion. He was the husband of the late Jesse WINDSOR TELLER. Surviving are one son, Kenneth E. TELLER; one daughter, Mrs. Betty MACHNIK; and two stepchildren, Mrs. William KLEIN and John H. KAKULE, all of Troy. The funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 a. m. from the Mason Funeral Home, 109th St. and 3rd Ave., with Rev. S. Wilson Francis, pastor of St. Mark's Methodist Church, officiating. THRANE, Eleanor M. VIALL - Eleanor M. Thrane - HALFMOON - Mrs. Eleanor VIALL THRANE, 85, of Route 236, died Thursday evening, October 30, 2008 at her home, in the safe and loving company of her family and friends. Born in Mechanicville [Saratoga County, NY], December 23, 1992, she was a daughter of the late Edward VIALL and Eleanor KENNY and a stepdaughter of the late Ella HOGAN VIALL. A 1942 graduate of Mechanicville High School, Eleanor received her nursing license from Samaritan Hospital of Troy [Rensselaer County, NY]. A private duty nurse, Eleanor had nursed at Samaritan Hospital for 17 years and, many years ago, had been a waitress at the former Joyce's Log Cabin in Mechanicville. She proudly served as a Democratic elections inspector for over 20 years for the town of Halfmoon [Saratoga County, NY]. She enjoyed grooming her yard, gardening, and taking camping trips with her late husband throughout the Northeast. She was a member of the Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. Eleanor loved her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband, Christian THRANE Jr., who died October 27, 1995; sons Gary THRANE, David THRANE and William "Butch" COONS; daughter-in-law Laurie Darrow THRANE; brothers Edward "Bud" VIALL and Fred VIALL; and sisters Joan SCHMIDT and Mabel CARPENTER. Survivors include her son Michael THRANE of Stillwater; her daughter Barbara CURTIS (Rick) of Troy; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a dear and close friend, Karen TUCCILLO of Mechanicville; also three sisters, Evelyn CAMEROTA (Rocky) and Eileen MINOR, all of Mechanicville, and June SALMON of VT; brothers Bob VIALL and Tom VIALL, both of Clifton Park; and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9 a. m. at Assumption-St. Paul North Main Street Church, with burial in Hudson View Cemetery. THRANE, Gary F., Sr. - Services Held For Gary F. Thrane Sr. - SCHAGHTICOKE - Gary F. THRANE Sr., 37, of Verbeck Avenue, died Monday, July 31 [1989] after being injured while at work at the General Electric Company Silicone Division at Waterford [Saratoga County, NY]. Mr. Thrane was born in Troy, son of Christian and Eleanor VIALL THRANE of Clifton Park. He was a 1970 graduate of Shenendehowa High School. Mr. Thrane had been employed with GE in Waterford for 15 years. He had served as a lieutenant on the GE fire brigade and as an emergency medical technician for the GE plant at Waterford. Mr. Thrane had been deputy emergency service coordinator for Rensselaer County for the past 2-1/2 years. He was a county emergency medical services instructor, a cardio-pulmonary resuscitation instructor with the American Heart Association, and a former captain and advanced emergency medical technician with the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two sons, Freddy RODRIGUEZ of Troy and Gary F. THRANE Jr. of Schaghticoke; a daughter, Stacielei THRANE of Schaghticoke; a brother, Michael THRANE of Stillwater; a sister, Barbara CURTIS of Cropseyville; his maternal grandmother, Ella VIALL of Mechanicville; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 5 from the Mechanicville United Methodist Church. Interment was in Hudson View Cemetery, Mechanicville. THRANE, Laurie DARROW. - Laurie Darrow Thrane - STILLWATER - Laurie DARROW THRANE, 46, of Ferry Lane, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady [Schenectady County, NY], following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born [18 January 1957] in Cohoes [Albany County, NY], she was a daughter of C. Donald (Donna) DARROW and Gloria TULLOCH (Warren) RIFENBURGH of Schaghticoke; the wife of Michael THRANE, whom she married in 1984; the mother of Anastasia THRANE; stepmother of Jennifer SCOTT of Cohoes; grandmother of Abigail SCOTT; daughter-in-law of Eleanor VIALL THRANE of Halfmoon; and a loving aunt, niece, godmother and cousin of many. Laurie attended both Hoosic Valley and Waterford schools. She was an operator at the General Electric Silicone Products Division plant in Waterford for over 20 years, where she also was a member of the plant's Fire Brigade. The first woman president and former line officer of the Newland Wood Fire Department in the Village of Stillwater, Laurie was also an emergency medical technician (EMT) with the Stillwater Rescue Squad for many years. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a. m. at the United Presbyterian Church of Schaghticoke. Burial in Hudson View Cemetery, Mechanicville. TIBBITS, William Badger. - THE DEATH OF GEN. WILLIAM B. TIBBETTS. - Troy, N.Y., Feb. 10 - Gen. William B. Tibbetts has died at his residence in this city at 9:30 o'clock tonight. He was born at Hoosick, Rensselaer County, March 31, 1837. He was graduated from Union College in 1859. At the outbreak of the rebellion he raised a company of the Second Regiment, New York Volunteers. In 1863 he recruited the Griswold Cavalry, and became its Colonel. He distinguished himself in various battles, and was brevetted Brigadier-General in 1864. He served on the frontier after the war, and was mustered out of the service as Major-General, Jan. 15, 1866. Gen. Tibbetts received injuries during the war which incapacitated him from active duties throughout the remainder of his life. He was instrumental in organizing the Tibbetts Veteran Corps, and Tibbetts Cadets, of this city, both of which companies were named in his honor. By his death the Militia of this city loses its firmest and most liberal supporter and this community an honest and respected citizen. TULLOCH, Doris E. (Mrs Henry N. JONES). - SCHENECTADY - Doris TULLOCH JONES, 88, longtime resident of East Lydius St., died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after being stricken at her residence. Born in Akron, Ohio, April 14, 1920, daughter of the late Edgar and Emma LESSON TULLOCH. Doris grew up [in Schaghticoke] and graduated from Schaghticoke High School and Troy Business School. Doris worked for many years for the New York State Insurance Department, retiring in 1986. Previously, she had worked for Pleasant Valley Packing Co., R.P.I. and the Voorheesville Depot. An avid reader, Doris also was interested in knitting and sewing. The study of genealogy was important to Doris, and she was a member of the Old Heldeberg [sic - Hellebergh] Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), the Dutch Settlers Society of Albany, N. Y. and the Eddy Family & Eddy Homestead Assoc. She was a member of St. Madeline Sophie Church in Schenectady. Survivors include her husband of 62 [sic - 64] years, Henry N. JONES; her daughter and son-in-law, Antoinette and Barry ANDERSON of Danvers, Mass.; three grandchildren, Thomas D. (Jessica) ANDERSON of Decatur, Ga., John Christopher ANDERSON of Danvers, and Patrick T. (Cheryl) BURKE of Fishers, Ind.; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis BURKE. Also, her three sisters, Marylou LESSARD of Hoosick Falls, Patricia BOOTH of Mechanicville, and Ann WHINNERY of Saratoga Springs; along with many nieces and nephews and their families. Doris was predeceased by her daughter, Geraldine M. BURKE; sisters, Nancy WOELFERSHEIM and Gloria DARROW; and brothers, Peter TULLOCH, Gene [TULLOCK - sic] and Edgar TULLOCH. TULLOCK, Edgar A. - Edgar A. TULLOCK of Schaghticoke, a widely-known electrical contractor and active in several fraternal organizations, died Sunday [9 April 1972] at the Albany Veterans' Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Corinth [31 August 1896], son of the late Edgar A. and Susan EDDY TULLOCK, Mr. Tullock had resided in the Schaghticoke area for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Mechanicville Elks Club, King Solomon Temple, F&AM, noble grand of Schaghticoke Chapter I00F, and a member and past commander of the Charles E. Waldron Post, American Legion, of which he was a 50-year member. He was also a member of the Eddy Family Association of America. Mr. Tullock was known as an amateur geneologist and had traced the history of his own family to the VEEDER, BRADT and SCHERMERHORN families, considered pioneers in the settling of America. He was a self-employed electrical contractor and a Navy veteran of World War I. He was widower of Emma LESSON TULLOCK. He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Henry (Doris) JONES of Schenectady, Mrs. Patricia BOOTH of Stillwater, Mrs. John (Ann) WHINNERY of Ballston Lake, Mrs. Robert A. (Nancy) WOELFERSHEIM of Schaghticoke, Mrs. Joseph (Marylou) LESSARD of Mountainview, California, and Mrs. C. D. (Gloria) DARROW of Waterford; three sons, Edgar J. TULLOCK of Brockport, Gene F. TULLOCK of Schaghticoke, and Peter J. TULLOCK of Schenectady; a sister, Miss Elizabeth TULLOCK of Mechanicville; and several grandchildren. The funeral was held from the residence Wednesday, with Rev. Elwood Case, pastor of the Schaghticoke Presbyterian Church, officiating. Honorary bearers were Millard Campbell, Frank Bent, Jute Hansen and Stanley Cranston. Active bearers were Donald Bryan, Thomas Keyes Sr, Warren Smith, Roger Phillips, John Hill and Robert Crooks. Mr. Case officiated at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke, where a contingent of Navy personnel from the Troy and Albany Reserve Training Centers took part in the military funeral. TULLOCH, Emma J. LESSON (Mrs. Edgar A. TULLOCH). - Mrs. Tulloch Dies at 74; Was Praised by Truman - Mrs. Emma J. LESSON TULLOCH, 74, of Schaghticoke, died on Saturday [17 May 1969], at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, following a long illness. Mrs. Tulloch, born at Whately, Mass., had lived in Schaghticoke most of her life. She was a communicant of St. John's Church, a charter member and past president of Chester Carknard Post VFW Auxiliary of Valley Falls, a charter member of Schaghticoke Fire Auxiliary and a member and past president of the Charles Waldron American Legion Post No. 731 Auxiliary. Mrs. Tulloch was a former member of the Fort Crailo American Legion Post Auxiliary, Rensselaer. In 1945 she received a citation from President Truman for her work with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Survivors include her husband, Edgar A. TULLOCH; six daughters, Mrs. Henry (Doris) JONES of Schenectady, Mrs. Patricia BOOTH of Stillwater, Mrs. John (Ann) WHINNERY of Ballston Lake, Mrs. Robert A. (Nancy) WOELFERSHEIM of Schaghticoke, Mrs. Albert (Marylou) LEROUX of Mountainview, Calif., and Mrs. C. D. (Gloria) DARROW of Waterford; three sons, Edgar J. TULLOCH of Brockport, Gene F. TULLOCH of Schaghticoke, and Peter J. TULLOCH of Ballston Spa; and a brother, Charles J. LESSON of Mechanicville. Thirty-one grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was a sister of the late Mrs. Georgiana JACOBSEN, Mrs. Mabel LESSON, George LESSON, William LESSON, John LESSON, and Ezra LESSON. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a. m. at the residence and at 9:30 a. m. at St. John's Church, Schaghticoke. Friends may call at the residence today at their convenience. TULLOCH, Gloria Jean (Mrs. DARROW; Mrs. Walter RIFENBURGH). - Gloria Jean Darrow - JOHNSONVILLE - Gloria Jean (TULLOCH) DARROW, 69, former longtime resident of Schaghticoke, passed away on her birthday, Friday, July 21, 2006, at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born [21 July 1937] in Schaghticoke, daughter of the late Edgar A. and Emma LESSON TULLOCH Jr., she attended Hoosic Valley Schools, later earned her GED, and also attended Russell Sage College, to become a home health aide. She worked at Swan Knit of Cohoes for many years and was a member and shop steward for the ILGWUE [sic - ILGWU, the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union?], until the factory closed. Then she worked as a home health aide for a number of years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Schaghticoke, the Melrose Fire Department and Schaghticoke Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary, the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad since 1990, and the Schaghticoke American Legion Auxiliary. Gloria was a member of the Dutch Settlers' Society of Albany, NY and was a descendant of Phillipe DUTRIEUX and Jacob Jan SCHERMERHORN, who were some of the first settlers of Manhattan from 1620-22. Survivors include her beloved sisters, Marylou LESSARD of Hoosick Falls, Patricia BOOTH of Mechanicville, Ann WHINNERY of Saratoga Springs, and Doris JONES of Guilderland; her adored granddaughter, Anastasia M. THRANE; her son-in-law, Michael THRANE, both of Stillwater; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gloria was predeceased by her daughter, Laurie THRANE; her husband Warren RIFENBURGH; a sister, Nancy WOELFERSHEIM; and brothers, Peter TULLOCH, Gene TULLOCH and Edgar J. TULLOCH. TURNER, Emma Jane (Mrs Thomas T. BURGAN, Sr.) - Mrs. Emma Burgan, 63, Stricken Fatally - Mrs. Emma BURGAN, 63, of 238 Lincoln Ave., was pronounced dead on arrival yesterday afternoon at Samaritan Hospital, where she was taken from her home by Ambulance Service Corp. Coroner Anthony E. Matera said death was due to natural causes. The woman had been under the care of a physician, he stated. The fire department was rushed to the woman's home at 4:54 p. m. by Hosemen Frank Magnetto and Stephen Langlais of Central Fire Station. Surviving Mrs. Burgan are a son, Thomas BURGAN Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Jane MADDUX, both of Troy; a brother, George TURNER of Selkirk, and a sister, Miss Sarah TURNER of Troy; and four granddaughters and one grandson. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Bryce Funeral Home, 1820 5th Ave. Interment will be in the Elmwood Hill Cemetery.
