TROY - Rosemond Theresa Mahoney, 86, beloved wife of Frank N. Mahoney for 65 years, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at her daughter's home. A lifetime resident of Troy and 19 years as a snowbird to Clearwater, FL, she was the daughter of the late Theresa (Weiss) and Harry Leffler. Over the years she attended St. Joseph, St. Lawrence and St. Jude's church. She graduated from St. Joseph's Church and Troy High. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Aird-Don Wholesale Plumbing, the first kindergarten teacher for St. Lawrence School, cosmetician for Montgomery Ward and the Boston Store, and retired in 1979 from state Department of Mental Hygiene as an accountant. She enjoyed camping, sailing, skiing, golf, bowling and rafting though the Grand Canyon at 70. She loved traveling to Ireland and her beautiful flower garden. But mostly she loved her family. She was a devoted wife and mother of three children, Robert of Flagstaff, AZ, Christopher and R. Theresa Martin of Troy. She had nine grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also a sister, Ida Mae O'Bryan of Troy. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry Heffler of Latham, and her sister, Betty Kolenberg of Wynantskill. Memorial services at the Gardner Earl Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery will be announced at a later date. MARANI, Frank. - Frank Marani, 98, Hoosick Falls - Frank Marani, 98, died Saturday, April 1 at the Bennington Health and Rehab Center in Bennington, Vermont. He was the husband of the late Edith Marani born April 28, 1901 in Rolo-Reggio-Emilia, Italy. She was educated in schools in Italy. Frank came to the United States in 1920. He lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut until 1950. He moved to Hoosick Falls in 1950 and bought the Barbecue Bowling Alley, and he and his wife and family ran the bowling center until 1970. He was also a member of the Hoosick Falls Eagles Aerie #2467. Survivors are two sons, William L. Marani of Winter Springs, Florida and Robert Marani of Syracuse, New York, as well as two grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 9:30 a. m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, and 10:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church where a Mass of Christian Burial was offered. Burial was to follow the mass at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, New York. MARTIN, Henry H. - Henry MARTIN, age 88, died at 11'oclock Monday night in the residence of his son, Frank MARTIN, 610 Rex Street, following a two-month illness of heart trouble. A native of Durham, Canada, he was born Sept 6, 1840. Prior to coming to South Bend eight years ago, he made his home in Troy, N.Y. In 1869 he was married in Troy to Miss Matilda Anthony, whose death occurred a number of years ago. A prayer service will be held in the residence at 7:30 o'clock this evening, with the Rev. Rhys Price Jones, D.D. of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. The body will be sent to Troy Wednesday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock, and the funeral services will be conducted there Friday. Born in Valley Falls [village in the town of Pittstown, Rensselaer County], NY, October 5, 1921, daughter of Charles Masterson, Sr. and Rosa McGee. Wife of the late Leland G. Woodling. A member and former treasurer of the Presbyterian Church in Schaghticoke, and a member of the Hoosic Valley Senior Citizens. She attended Hoosic Valley Community Church. She belonged to the Old Schaghticoke Women's Bowling League. Survived by her brother, Eugene Masterson. Predeceased by siblings Emery Masterson, Charles Masterson, Hubert Masterson, Rose Jenson, Dora McMahon, Gladys Fisher and Nettie Woodbury. Having no children of her own, she cherished family times. She enjoyed family dinners and playing cards. She was especially close to her nephew and caretakers, Mike and Valerie Masterson, and their children. Her other nephews, Todd Masterson and Joe Masterson, and their families were also special in her heart. MCCARTHY, James F. - James F. McCarthy died this morning [21 July 1911] at his home, 49 Ida Street [Troy]. Mr. McCarthy was employed at the state armory on Ferry street, being appointed about thirty years ago. When a youth, the deceased endeavored to enlist as a soldier during the civil war but was not accepted on account of his age. In 1864 he was permitted to go to the front as a drummer boy, and in that capacity he served until the end of the war, participating with his regiment in many engagements. In the year 1874, Mr. McCarthy enlisted as a musician in the Sixth Separate company, receiving many service medals. In 1908, he received his commission as second lieutenant, having served in the guard for over twenty-five years. During his service at the armory, the deceased was at all times courteous and was ever ready to do a favor for any of the guardsmen. Mr. McCarthy was a member of the First Baptist Church. His wife [Mary RYAN] and one daughter, Mrs. Edward CONWAY, survive. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon. MCCHESNEY, Mildred F. - Brunswick - Mildred Frances McChesney, 96, of the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center, formerly of Brunswick, died Thursday at the center after a long illness. Born in Cropseyville, she was the daughter of the late Walter W. and Corrine Morrison McChesney. She was educated in the Brunswick District School and graduated with a scholarship from Troy High School in 1921. She received a master's degree in liberal arts and in social studies from Russell Sage College in Troy. She also graduated from State Teachers College in Albany. She taught in Ravena and Middleburgh before joining the state Education Department. Miss McChesney worked for the department in Albany for 30 years, where she advised and directed the development and updating of public schools' social studies curriculum. She was the bureau chief of social studies and secondary education in 1964. She was honored for 50 years of service by the state Board of Regents in 1984. After retiring in 1970, she was an adjunct and volunteer at the Education Department for several years. She was a life member of Gilead Lutheran Church in Brunswick, where she was the first woman elected to the church council and was active in several committees and groups. She was a life member of the state Education Council for Social Studies and a member of the Brunswick Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling, studying other cultures, genealogy and writing a chronological history of the Cropseyville and Brunswick areas. She also compiled a genealogical record of the Morrison and McChesney families. Survivors include a niece, Corrine Bridgeford Miller, of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The funeral will be at 4 p. m. Thursday at Gilead Lutheran Church with Rev. Kathleen Boyer-Visser officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Brookside Cemetery in Brunswick. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of Angelo and Maria deMeo Cuomo and the widow of George L. Ryals and Melvin McGreevy. Educated in Johnsonville public schools, Mrs. McGreevy was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, George L. Ryals of Newton, N. J.; four stepsons, Warren McGreevy of Schaghticoke, Fred McGreevy of Cambridge [Washington Co, NY], David and Roy McGreevy, both of Troy; a daughter, Ann Dickson of Cambridge; two stepdaughters, Mary Jane Fitzgerald of Troy and Martha McGreevy of California; two sisters, Irene Simpson of Bennington, Vt., and Margaret Cutter of Johnsonville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. MCKEON, Lucy C. Avery - McKeon, Lucy C. - SYCAWAY - Lucy C. MCKEON, 96, of Sycaway, passed into eternal life at the Samaritan Hospital, Troy, NY, January 9, 2009, with her loving family at her side. Lucy was born in Raymertown, town of Pittstown, NY, a daughter of the late Charles Avery and Mercie Bornt Eddy, on August 29, 1912. She was educated in a one-room schoolhouse in Raymertown and at Lansingburgh High School in Troy, where she married Ward McKeon, Sr., on February 3, 1929. The couple shared 56 years of marriage until his death in December 1985. Lucy was a loving and devoted wife, mother of three, grandmother of 11, and great-grandmother of 21, and she recently welcomed her first great-great-grandson. She was employed as a clerk and manager's assistant at Denby's Inc. for over 20 years. Lucy was an avid gardener, a voracious reader and an accomplished knitter. Survivors include a daughter, Anita Fitzgerald and husband Dan Fitzgerald Jr. of Clinton, NY; a son, Warren McKeon and wife Evelyn McKeon of Honolulu, HI; and a daughter-in-law, widow of Ward McKeon, Jr., Joanne McKeon, of Scotia, NY. Also surviving are two sisters, Harriet Dickinson of Wynantskill, NY, and Marian Eddy of Troy. Others surviving are nine grandchildren: Daniel and Siobhan Fitzgerald III of Branford, CT; Alicia and John O'Neill of State College, PA; Kevin and Pam Fitzgerald of Milford, CT; Theresa and John Grzybek of Williamson, NY; Matthew McKeon and Vince Zentner of Norfolk, VA; Monica and Laura Berrios-McKeon of Saratoga Springs, NY; Amanda and Eric DiLella of Holley, NY; Ann and Chad Iwasaki of Waianae, HI; and Patricia and Jerry Domingo of Waianae. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews, especially a favored niece, Jean Farrell, who spent many cheery companionable hours with Lucy. Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Ward, Sr.; a son, Ward, Jr.; grandsons Mark and Ward Isaburo McKeon; and four sisters, Sylvia Eddy, Florence Rosston, Dorothy Chase and Althea Eddy. The family sends a very special thank you to her dear friends and neighbors, Ned and Mary Rita Pascucci, for their many hours of loving and faithful care and would like to extend deep appreciation to the emergency rooms at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, and staff of the Albany Medical Center and Samaritan Hospital for their compassion and care. MCMILLIAN, Frederick. - Troy - The funeral of Frederick MCMILLIAN Sr., 52, of Eddy's Lane, a Veteran of WWII and a former employee of Pearson Brothers Roofing and Pop's Bakery in Troy, will be held at 8:30 am from St Joseph's Church, where a mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Mr. McMillian was pronounced dead on arrival Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital, after his body was recovered, after his car plunged into the Hudson River in Troy. Born and educated in Troy, he attended St. Joseph's School and was a resident of the city all his life. Mr McMillian retired last year. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a former member of the Cohoes Moose Lodge. Survivors include his mother, Martha BOUNDS of Troy; his wife, the former Mary T. BUSONE; eight daughters, Debra, Michele, Marsha, Carla, Candice MCMILLIAN, and Mrs Daniel VELESQUEZ all of Troy, Mrs Charles BONFANTI of Rotterdam, and Mrs Frederick CALVANESE of Albany; two sons Frederick J. MILLER, Robertine (Mrs. Fred Lesson). - Schaghticoke - Lesson, Mrs. Fred - The funeral of Mrs. Fred LESSON, who died New Year's Day [1 January 1925] at her home in Schaghticoke in her 73d year, was held this morning from St. John's Church in that village, where a solemn requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Jules Burrick, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Cohoes, assisted by Rev. William W. Donovan, pastor of St. John's Church, and Rev. George L. Gagne, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church, Cohoes. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery. Mrs. Lesson, who was formerly Miss Robertine MILLER, was born [22 May 1852] in Contre Coeur, Province of Quebec, Canada, a daughter of Anthony MILLER and Veronica CARON-MILLER. When 12 years of age, she moved with her family into Vermont, where she met and married Mr. Lesson, coming to Schaghticoke about 25 years ago. In that village, by her kind deeds and her pleasant disposition, she won a multitude of friends who were present at the funeral to pay their respects to their friend and advisor. Mrs. Lesson was a niece of Prospere CARON, who was one of the first
immigrants into the then unsettled region of northern Ohio and later went to Minnesota, where he became one of the first mayors of St. Paul, the state capital, then a struggling frontier town. The entire journey was made in ox-carts over difficulties that cannot be imagined in these days of quick travel and comforts. Her father was a broker and was well known throughout the entire eastern section of the Dominion [of Canada]. Many cousins and other relatives are living in Canada and in the Middle Western sections of the United States. The survivors are her husband; three daughters, Miss Mabel LESSON, Mrs. Louis JACOBSEN, and Mrs. Edgar TULLOCK; and five sons, George LESSON, William LESSON, Ezra LESSON, Charles LESSON, and John LESSON. MINICK, Margaret (Sharp). - DIED FROM HER INJURIES. - Mrs. Margaret Minick mother of Peter Minick of Poestenkill who was injured by falling from the stoop of L. D. Eddy's at No. 109 Third St. in the city on Sunday afternoon last, died from the effects of the accident at her residence in Poestenkill last night. Her death was caused by concussion of the brain and she was not conscious after receiving the injury. She was 76 years old and she enjoyed the happiness of married life about 55 years, residing all of that time in the same dwelling. Her husband is 82 years of age and it is feared that the death of his partner for more than half a century will hasten his footsteps to the grave. MINOR, Eileen VIALL. - Eileen Minor, 82 - MECHANICVILLE - Eileen VIALL MINOR, 82, of Davenport Estates, died December 10, 2008, at home, in the loving company of her family. Born [9 February 1926] in Troy [Rensselaer County, NY], daughter of the late Edward VIALL and Eleanor KENNY, she lived in Mechanicville all her life. In addition to raising and overseeing her large family, she was affectionately known as "Ma Minor" and had worked as a cook at the local McDonald's Restaurant in Mechanicville for 15 years. She also had worked years ago both for J. M. Fields of Troy and for the LBK Bus Terminal in Mechanicville. She was predeceased by her husband, Severin N. MINOR, who died in 1982. Survivors include her 11 children, Sue Ann MULLER of North Carolina, Ronald MINOR of Stillwater, Edward MINOR of Florida, Mary LECLAIRE of Stillwater, Terry MINOR of Johnsonville, Deborah MCLAUGHLIN and Esther CALLAHAN, both of Mechanicville, Thomas MINOR of Greenwich, Ella MORSE of Stillwater, Belinda PATENAUDE of Mechanicville and Eric MINOR of Schaghticoke; 37 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, June SALMON of Vermont and Evelyn CAMEROTA of Mechanicville; and two brothers, Robert VIALL and Thomas VIALL, both of Clifton Park. MOONEY, Thomas. - Troy. Thomas Mooney, 61,
of the Ahern Apartments, husband of Martha Vogel Mooney, died suddenly Saturday
at Samaritan Hospital. Educated in the Malone public school system, he was a
World War II Army veteran. Mr. Mooney had been employed as a food server at
Russell Sage College for the past 11 years. He was a communicant of
St. Mary's Church in Troy. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons,
Charles T. Mooney, Thomas C. Mooney, Jr., John J. Mooney, and Edward J. Mooney,
all of Troy; three daughters, Colleen M., Lorrie and Gloria, all of Troy; a sister,
Helen Cook of Schroon Lake; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at
9:00 a.m. Tuesday from John H. Clinton Funeral Home, Washington Park and Third St.,
and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Church, where a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be

MORGAN, Wayne F. - MECHANICVILLE - Wayne F. Morgan, 48, of
Hudson River Road, died Wednesday at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was the son of Rita Callahan Morgan of Mechanicville and the
late Frank X. Morgan. He was a graduate of St. Paul's Parochial School,
Mechanicville High School, class of 1969, Hudson Valley Community College
and Union College of Schenectady. He and his family spent summers at their
camp on Sacandaga Lake. Mr. Morgan was a chemist for the Research and
Development Center of the General Electric Company in Niskayuna. He was a
member of AIM HIGH group of Troy, several bowling leagues, including the
Bowlero Classic, and was one of the highest-scoring bowlers. He was a
longtime member of the Frog Island Golf League in Mechanicville and attended
the Lake Placid golf outings each year. Mr. Morgan enjoyed building things,
ranging from houses to furniture. Survivors, in addition to his mother,
include his wife of 24 years, Karen Amadeo Morgan; two daughters, Melissa
and Kelly Morgan; two sons, Christopher and Patrick Morgan, both of
Mechanicville; and two sisters, Diane Reilly of Halfmoon and Gail Reilly
of Saratoga Lake. The funeral will be held at 9 a. m. Saturday at
Assumption-St. Paul's William Street Church. Burial will be in
St. Paul's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p. m. today at the

MORSE, Amos. - Amos Morse, an old and esteemed resident,
died at an early hour this morning, after an illness of about a month.
The deceased was in his 77th year. For over a quarter of a century he had
not engaged in active business. Prior to that time he conducted a line of stages
which ran between Bennington [Bennington County, VT] and Troy [Rensselaer County, NY].
This enterprise was continued until the building of the Troy and Boston railroad.
Mr. Morse resided after that in Schaghticoke, and while there engaged in
farming pursuits and produce speculation; he was elected an auditing superintendent
of the county poor. He was prominent in Democratic politics for many years and
was interested in all public affairs of his time. He is survived by a wife and
seven children. Five are sons, as follows: Eugene, of Lansingburgh;
P. A., H. W., and S. R. Morse of Troy; and G. W. C. Morse of New York City.
The daughters are Mrs. Hurley of Schaghticoke and Mrs. Elizabeth Thornton of Boston.

Mrs. Lesson Dies, Services Are Tomorrow - SCHAGHTICOKE - Services for
Catherine E. [MURPHY] LESSON, 86, formerly of School Street,
will be conducted tomorrow at 9:30 a. m. from the Chase Funeral Home,
173 Main St., and at 10 from St. John's Church. Mrs. Lesson died
Wednesday [27 October 1982] at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Troy
after a long illness. She was born in Ansonia, Conn., and received her
education there. A resident of Schaghticoke for most of her life,
she was a communicant of St. John's Church. She was the widow of
Ezra J. LESSON. Survivors include two sons, Robert LESSON of
South Glens Falls and Gordon LESSON of Troy; seven grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are tonight from 7 to 9. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

MAGGISON, Mary. Mrs. Mary Maggison, wife of Robert T. Maggison, died last evening at 3:30 o'clock at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Richards, 487 Second Avenue, after an illness of two months. Mrs. Maggison was one of the oldest residence of the city, and was born in London, England, seventy-two years ago. She came to this city when she was nine years of age. The deceased was of a lovable disposition and was highly esteemed by many friends. Mrs. Maggison was a member of the Episcopal Church and attended Christ Church, Troy. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Richards; one son, George A. Maggison, and a granddaughter, Mrs. A Van Deusen.

About sixty years ago Mr. Maggison came to Troy and had since resided here. He was a shoemaker by trade. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
