Joseph Egolf. 28 years old. Enlisted on 4/20/1861 at Troy, NY as a 1st sergeant. On 5/14/1861 he mustered into "D" Co. NY 2nd Infantry. He was mustered out on 5/26/1863 at Troy, NY. On 3/29/1864 he was commissioned into "I" Co. NY 125th Infantry. He was discharged for wounds on 12/31/1864. He was listed as wounded 8/27/1862 Bristoe Station, VA. He was listed as a POW on 8/25/1864 at Reams' Station, VA (severe wound in right arm, amputated). He was paroled 9/14/1864 (place not stated). Promotions: 2nd Lieut. 9/6/1861; 1st Lieut, 8/31/1862 (as of Co. F); Capt. 2/5/1863 (as of Co. K); 1st Lieut. 3/29/1864 (as of Co. "I" 125th NY Infantry); Capt 6/29/1864.
